Project 1

Smart Plant Monitor Station

A compact, self-contained desk device designed to monitor the environment around a plant in real time. Tracks temperature, humidity, and proximity — alerting if conditions become harmful.

How It Works

Temperature Monitoring

DHT22 sensor reads ambient temperature. If it exceeds the plant's safe range, the red LED activates and buzzer sounds.

Humidity Tracking

Same DHT22 sensor monitors air humidity. Low humidity triggers alerts — critical for tropical plants.

Proximity Detection

HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor detects objects blocking airflow around the plant. Alerts when objects are too close.

LCD Display & Alerts

16×2 I2C LCD shows live readings. A button cycles between temperature, humidity, and proximity views. Green/Red LEDs show status at a glance.

Enclosure Design

The device is housed in a custom-built foam board enclosure designed to resemble a miniature greenhouse pod. This makes it a finished, presentable object suitable for any desk or windowsill.

Design Features:

  • Compact desk-friendly form factor
  • Clear window for LCD visibility
  • Ventilation cutouts for sensor accuracy
  • LED indicators visible from front panel
  • Button accessible on top surface
  • USB cable routing for power
